If you have a tax liability to pay, you have the option of remitting your taxes by credit card. This payment option is available to you, regardless if you electronically file your tax return or file a paper return. Credit card payments are currently originated only by Official Payments Corporation (OPC), who provides this service to the IRS and most other states. OPC will charge you a convenience fee, based on the amount of tax being paid. All of the fee goes to OPC. Only the tax amount goes to the state. This fee is charged by OPC to cover operating costs associated with servicing thousands of transactions. The credit card payment transaction is strictly between you and OPC, and therefore, any disputes specific to the card payment are between you and OPC. For more details, see the Frequently Asked Questions below, or CLICK HERE to learn more about rules for these transactions on the OPC website.
If you initiate your credit card payment by telephone, you must provide your Nebraska Jurisdiction Code, which is 3700. Whether making your credit card payment by phone or Internet, you will be asked to provide other related information, including your social security number (for individual income tax) or your state ID number (for business taxes), the amount you are paying, and credit card information.
The credit card payment option is currently available to the following tax programs:
Individual Income Tax (final payment Form 1040N or estimated payment)
Nebraska Income Tax Withholding (remitted with Forms 501N and 941N)
Nebraska and Local Sales and Use Tax (remitted with Form 10)
Nebraska Retailer's Use Tax (remitted with Form 10)
Nebraska and Local Use Tax (remitted with Form 2)
Nebraska Corporate Estimated Income Tax (remitted with Form 1120N-ES)
Nebraska Corporate Income Tax (remitted with Forms 1120N, 1120NF, 7004N, or a Balance Due Notice)

Official Payments Corporation is the leading provider of electronic payment options for federal, state, and local government entities. OPC makes it possible for citizens to pay their government taxes and fees, using their credit cards via telephone or Internet.
The fee is 2.49% of the payment amount for this service; a minimum $1.00 fee will be applied. You will be notified of the fee amount before you complete the transaction, and have the option of changing your mind if you decide not to use a credit card.
The system has been tested and proven. The IRS and more than 2,000 state and local governments have chosen Official Payments for this purpose. The information you provide is private and kept confidential.
After making your payment, if you decide to reverse the credit card transaction, remember that you will still owe tax. If unpaid by the due date (click here for a Calendar of Due Dates), you will be subject to penalty and interest. If you change your mind and still need to pay your Nebraska tax, mail a check or money order to the address shown on your return (under the signature block).
If you are paying individual income tax, you should write on your check or money order, the primary social security number used on your tax return, the tax year, and the Nebraska form you filed, (1040N or 1040NS). Optionally, you can CLICK HERE to download a Nebraska Individual Income Tax Payment Voucher, Form 1040N-V. Complete all parts of the voucher, attach your check or money order to it, and mail it to the address above.
The Official Payments system will provide you with a confirmation number at the end of the transaction. This confirms the payment transaction was received and processed by OPC. Also, look for your tax payment to appear on your credit card statement. You can also review details about your payment on the OPC website. Go to http://www.officialpayments.com and click on "Payment Verification" on the OPC home page. You’ll be asked to provide OPC your confirmation number, email address, and the last four digits of the credit card you used to make your payment. The system will confirm the amount of your payment, convenience fee, total payment, and the date your payment was made. Payments made using the 800-2PAY-TAX telephone system can be verified by calling 866-621-4109.
