2009 Charitable Gaming Legislative Changes


Pickle Card Lottery Act

(LB 286 – General Affairs Committee –Effective date is August 30,2009)

Increases a licensed organization’s overall pickle card expense limitation from 8% to 12%. Within the overall 12% expense limitation, it also increases a licensed sales agent’s commission from 4% to 6%.

E-Verify

(LB 403 — Senator Karpisek – Effective date is October 1, 2009)

[Section 4] Prohibits state agencies and political subdivisions from providing federal, state or local public benefits to individuals not lawfully present in the United States. Public benefits include certain licenses issued by the Charitable Gaming Division. All new license applications for lottery (keno) workers, sales agents, gaming managers, and utilizations of funds members must include an attestation form confirming United States citizenship or lawful presence.
