CHARITABLE GAMING ACTIVITY
OCTOBER 1 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2005

LINCOLN -- The Nebraska Department of Revenue Charitable Gaming Division reports that the total amount wagered on charitable gaming activities for the period October 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005 was $62,710,395, which is a 2.8 percent increase from the prior quarter. When compared to the same quarter in 2004, the amount wagered for the quarter ending December 31, 2005, represents a 1.2 percent decrease. Overall, $249,271,644 was wagered during the 2005 calendar year, which is 3 percent less than the previous calendar year when $257,067,727 was wagered.

County/city lottery (keno), the highest grossing charitable gaming activity, increased 5.2 percent from the previous quarter with gross wagering of $46,550,295. This was a negligible increase from the same quarter in 2004 when $46,359,404 was wagered. Pickle card gross proceeds were $11,129,118 for the quarter. This is a 3.4 percent decrease from the previous quarter and an 8.1 percent decrease from the same quarter in 2004. Bingo gross receipts of $3,425,356 for the quarter were down 9.2 percent from the previous quarter and 5.3 percent less than the same quarter in 2004. The total amount wagered on lottery/raffle activities during the 2005 calendar year was $5,596,031. This was an increase of 8.3 percent from the previous calendar year.

The highest amount wagered on charitable gaming activities in Nebraska was during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1994, when $408,222,880 was wagered. Comparing this peak year to the 12 months ending December 31, 2005, the decreases in pickle card gross wagering have been 73 percent, in bingo 44 percent, and in keno 10.6 percent.

Charitable gaming activities generated taxes of $1,335,082 and license and registration fees of $69,675 for the last reporting quarter.
