CHARITABLE GAMING ACTIVITY
JANUARY 1 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2006
LINCOLN -- The Nebraska Department of Revenue Charitable Gaming Division reports that the total amount wagered on charitable gaming activities for the period January 1, 2006 through March 31, 2006 was $66,389,779 which is a 5.9 percent increase from the previous quarter. When compared to the same quarter in 2005 ($65,003,252), the amount wagered for the quarter ending March 31, 2006, represents a 2.1 percent increase.
County/city lottery (keno), the highest grossing charitable gaming activity, increased 6.1 percent from the previous quarter with gross wagering of $49,398,445. This was a 4.6 percent increase as compared to the same quarter in 2005 ($47,220,649). Pickle card gross proceeds were $12,470,912 for the quarter. This is a 12.1 percent increase from the previous quarter and a 4.6 percent decrease from the same quarter in 2005 ($13,069,310). Bingo gross receipts of $3,342,677 for the quarter were down 2.4 percent from the previous quarter and 3.2 percent less than the same quarter in 2005 ($3,452,863). The total amount wagered on lottery/raffle activity for the quarter was $1,177,745.
Charitable gaming activities generated taxes of $1,417,654 and license and registration fees of $39,585 for the last reporting quarter.
