CHARITABLE GAMING ACTIVITY
JANUARY 1 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2005

County/city lottery (keno), the highest grossing charitable gaming activity, increased 1.8% from the previous quarter with gross wagering of $47,199,906. This was a decrease of 0.9% from the same quarter in 2004. Pickle cards had gross proceeds of $13,069,310 for the quarter. This is a 7.9% increase from the previous quarter although it is a 12.8% decrease from the same quarter in 2004. Bingo gross receipts of $3,452,863 for the quarter were down 4.5% from the previous quarter and were also down 13.2% from the same quarter in 2004. Lottery/raffle activity was the lowest in gross wagering at $1,260,430. This was a decrease of 6.6% from the prior quarter and a 19.6% increase from the same quarter in 2004.
The highest amount wagered on charitable gaming activities in Nebraska was during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1994. Comparing this peak year to the 12 months ending March 31, 2005, the decreases in pickle card gross wagering were 71%, in bingo 40%, and in keno over 10%.
Combined charitable gaming activities generated taxes and fees of $1,403,151 for the last reporting quarter. Of that amount, $11,165 were license fees paid this quarter.
