CHARITABLE GAMING ACTIVITY APRIL 1 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2006 AND FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2006
LINCOLN -- The Nebraska Department of Revenue Charitable Gaming Division reports that total dollars wagered on charitable gaming activities for the period April 1, 2006 through June 30, 2006 were $60,629,458 which is an overall 8.7% decline from the previous quarter. However, this amount was slightly higher than the total amount wagered for the same period in 2005 when $60,574,288 were wagered. Total dollars wagered on charitable gaming activities for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006 were $250,768,946 which is less than the previous fiscal year when $251,889,510 were wagered.
Total dollars wagered on county/city lottery (keno) for the quarter were $45,087,862 which is 8.7% less than the previous quarter. However, total dollars wagered on keno for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006 were $185,340,795 which is 2.3% more than the previous fiscal year when $181,255,946 were wagered.
Pickle cards gross proceeds were $10,823,426 for the quarter. This is a 13.2% decrease from the previous quarter and 10.7% less than the same quarter in 2005. Pickle card gross proceeds for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006 were $45,943,737 which represents an overall decrease of 9.6% as compared to the previous fiscal year when pickle card gross proceeds were $50,819,571. The total number of pickle card units sold in fiscal year 2005-06 was 23,152 as compared to 24,984 in 2004-05.
Bingo gross receipts were $3,513,800 for the quarter which is 5.1% more than the previous quarter and 9.8% more than the same quarter in 2005. However, bingo gross receipts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006 were $14,051,926 which is 1.5% less than the previous fiscal year when bingo gross receipts were $14,268,212.
Gross proceeds for lottery/raffle activity were $1,204,370 for the quarter and $5,432,488 for the fiscal year.
Charitable gaming activities generated taxes, license, and registration fees of $1,348,145 for the quarter. Of that amount, $53,485 were license and registration fees. For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006, total charitable gaming tax receipts were $5,355,547 which is .8% less than the previous fiscal year. Total license and registration fees were $366,027 as compared to $287,359 in fiscal year 2005-06.
