CHARITABLE GAMING ACTIVITY
JANUARY 1, 2008 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2008 and FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2008
LINCOLN — The Nebraska Department of Revenue Charitable Gaming Division reports that total dollars wagered on charitable gaming activities for the period January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008 were $136,848,695. This represents an increase of 4.6 percent compared to the same period in 2007, when $130,848,351 was wagered. Total dollars wagered on charitable gaming activities for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 were $268,455,727 which is 4.8 percent more than the previous fiscal year, when $256,072,431 was wagered.
Total dollars wagered on county/city lottery (keno) for the period January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008 were $107,902,279. Total dollars wagered on keno for fiscal year 2008 were $210,833,663, which is 7.5 percent more than the previous fiscal year, when $196,210,843 was wagered.
Pickle cards gross proceeds for the period January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008 were $20,962,290. Pickle card gross proceeds in fiscal year 2008 were $40,737,874, which represents an overall decrease of 2.1 percent, compared to the previous fiscal year when pickle card gross proceeds were $41,620,943. The total number of pickle card units sold in fiscal year 2008 was 19,980, as compared to 20,666 in fiscal year 2007.
Bingo gross receipts were $5,364,912 for the period January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008. Bingo gross receipts in fiscal year 2008 were $10,932,502, which is 10.2 percent less than fiscal year 2007, when bingo gross receipts were $12,179,641.
Lottery/raffle gross proceeds were $2,619,214 for the period January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008. Lottery/raffle gross proceeds in fiscal year 2008 were $5,951,688, which is 1.8 percent less than fiscal year 2007, when lottery/raffle gross proceeds were $6,061,004.
Charitable gaming activities generated taxes, license, and registration fees of $6,021,854 in fiscal year 2008. Of that amount, $362,770 was license and registration fees. Total charitable gaming tax receipts in fiscal year 2008 were $5,659,084, which is 4.3 percent more than fiscal year 2007, when tax receipts were $5,428,148.
