The Department is offering a NEW tax education course on Food, Food Ingredients, and Prepared Food.

This course provides detailed instruction about the related sales tax regulations and would be valuable for people who sell food items. This might include bakeries, caterers, concessionaires, bars, coffee shops, convenience stores, restaurants, and the professionals who handle their bookkeeping. The class will start with the basics, and then move on to more complex issues, like the 75% Rule. We will discuss application of the regulations to specific situations, and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers.

The course will last 3½ hours (continuing education credits will be offered) and will be held on December 19th, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. in the Omaha State Office Building at 1313 Farnam. Parking is available at no cost at the State Office Parking garage located at 14th and Harney. Room location and parking garage access code will be provided prior to the event.

Please confirm your attendance by December 5th 2012 by contacting Steve Drzaic at 402-595-2078 or steve.drzaic@nebraska.gov.

If you are outside of the Omaha area, please let us know if you and others are interested in this tax topic coming closer to your part of the state. Thank you.
