FUEL TAX SET FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2007

LINCOLN – Based on the certification of the Director of Roads, the Nebraska Department of Revenue has calculated the variable portion of the motor fuels tax for the period July 1 through December 31, 2007 to be 14.5 cents per gallon. When added to the fixed portion of 12.5 cents per gallon, the resulting motor fuels tax for this period will be 27.0 cents per gallon.
The Director of Roads sets the variable percentage rate at an amount sufficient to ensure adequate funding for highway projects, including maintenance and improvements. This percentage rate has been set at 6.2 for the period July 1 through December 31, 2007. This percentage rate is applied to the base price of fuel purchased by the State in April 2007 to establish the July through December 2007 variable fuel tax. The base price of fuel purchased by the State in October 2007 will be used to calculate the January through June 2008 fuel tax.
