GENERAL FUND RECEIPTS — SEPTEMBER 2004
LINCOLN -- State Tax Commissioner Mary Jane Egr reported Tuesday that total gross General Fund receipts for the month of September were $312,506,024. That is 2.2 percent above the projected amount of $305,685,000. For the month of September, Corporate Income and Miscellaneous taxes were ahead of projections by 20.1 and 9.0 percent, respectively.
Total refunds for the month of September were $29,411,530 which is 3.5 percent below the projected amount of $30,480,000.
Egr also said that net receipts were above projections for the month of September by $7,889,494. After refunds, total net receipts for the month were $283,094,494, or 2.9 percent above the projected amount of $275,205,000. For the month of September, net Individual Income, Corporate Income and Miscellaneous taxes were above forecast by 0.1, 25.4 and 8.5 percent, respectively.
Egr also said that net receipts were ahead of projections for the first quarter of fiscal year 2004-05 by $38,462,221. After refunds, total net receipts for the fiscal year through September were $744,832,221, which is above the projected total of $706,370,000 by 5.4 percent. For the year to date, net General Fund receipts for Sales and Use, Individual Income, Corporate Income and Miscellaneous taxes were above the forecast by 3.2, 5.6, 16.3 and 9.4 percent, respectively.
The comparisons in this report are based on the forecast made by the Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board on February 27, 2004. This forecast was adjusted for legislation passed by the 2004 Legislature, divided into monthly estimates, and certified to the Clerk of the Legislature by the State Tax Commissioner and Legislative Fiscal Analyst on July 13, 2004.
