GENERAL FUND RECEIPTS — SEPTEMBER 2007

LINCOLN -- State Tax Commissioner Douglas Ewald reported Wednesday that total gross General Fund receipts for the month of September were $412,940,688. That is 8.5 percent above the projected amount of $380,716,000. For the month of September, gross Sales and Use, Individual Income and Miscellaneous taxes were ahead of forecast by 4.7, 14.3 and 10.8 percent, respectively.
Total refunds for the month of September were $33,021,435 which is 0.3 percent above the projected amount of $32,907,000.

Ewald also said that net receipts were above projections for the month of September by $32,110,253. After refunds, total net receipts for the month were $379,919,253, or 9.2 percent above the projected amount of $347,809,000. For the month of September, net Sales and Use, Individual Income, Corporate Income and Miscellaneous taxes were ahead of projections by 5.2, 14.2, 0.4 and 10.6 percent, respectively.

Ewald also said that net receipts were ahead of projections for the first three months of fiscal year 2007-08 by $10,312,751. After refunds, total net receipts for the fiscal year through September were $877,884,751, which is ahead the projected total of $867,572,000 by 1.2 percent. For the fiscal year to date, net General Fund receipts for Individual Income, Corporate Income and Miscellaneous taxes were above the forecast by 5.4, 4.4 and 5.2 percent, respectively.

The comparisons in this report are based on the forecast made by the Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board on April 26, 2007. This forecast was adjusted for legislation passed by the 2007 Legislature, divided into monthly estimates, and certified to the Clerk of the Legislature by the State Tax Commissioner and Legislative Fiscal Analyst on July 13, 2007.
